Eiji Akaso and Kang Hye-Won are cast in TV Tokyo drama series “Kinpa to Onigiri.” For South Korean actress Kang Hye-Won, “Kinpa to Onigiri” will mark her first acting role in a Japanese drama series. The romance screenplay will have Eiji Akaso play Taiga Hasegawa. He works at a small restaurant. Kang Hye-Won will play graduate student Park Rin. She is studying animation at a university in Japan. These two characters meet at the restaurant where Taiga Hasegawa works.

“Kinpa to Onigiri” will first air January 12, 2026 in Japan.

The screenplay adaption is written by Nam Dae-Joong (“The Last Ride“) and directed by Lee Seung-Young (“Wonderful World“). In “Manager Kim,” So Ji-Sub will play the title character. He works at a small bank as a manager and he is a single father, raising his daughter Min-Ji. He holds a big secret though.
