Main trailer and two main posters for movie “The Ugly”

Main trailer and two main posters added for movie “The Ugly” starring Park Jeong-Min and Kwon Hae-Hyo. The film is written and directed by Yeon Sang-Ho (“Train To Busan“), while the screenplay is based off of Yeon Sang-Ho’s graphic novel “Face.” Caption on the two posters states “The truth of its bare face has been revealed.” The main trailer starts with Kwon Hae-Hyo as blind stamp carver stating “I’m … do you think I can’t recognize what is beautiful and ugly? Beauty is respected and revered, while ugliness is despised.”

“The Ugly” will have its world premiere September 5, 2025 at the Toronto International Film Festival and its general release September 11, 2025 in South Korea.

Plot Synopsis by AsianWiki: Im Dong-Hwan’s (Park Jeong-Min) father, Im Young-Kyu (Kwon Hae-Hyo), is a master craftsman of seals even though he is visually impaired. One day, Im Dong-Hwan receives a phone call from police. He is informed that his mother Jung Young-Hee’s remains were discovered. She went missing 40 years ago.

Im Dong-Hwan, who never knew his mother’s face, hears that there is a possibility that his mother may have been murdered. Im Dong-Hwan begins to trace Jung Young-Hee’s death with PD Kim Su-Jin (Han Ji-Hyun), who was filming documentary about his father Im Young-Kyu. They interview people who worked with Jung Young-Hee at a Cheonggyecheon clothing factory about 40 years ago.
